When the going get’s tough…

Friday, September 26th, 2008

It’s getting pretty scary out here in America. I mean are you all as nervous about the way our economy is going as I am?  All this stuff is way over my head and I can’t even take care of my own bills, so I’m not one to be pointing any fingers, but it just seems the longer this battle over the bailout goes on the more it looks like something just isn’t right. I can’t be certain but it feels like we the American people are being told WE have to “save” these various entities’ or face certain economic disaster.I’m just wondering if we don’t do anything and we just let these companies die what really would happen and would it really make any difference to us the average American either way.Again I don’t really understand things either way we go. But when I listen to all the B.S. coming out of the various politicians’ mouth’s proclaiming that they know what the right thing for us to do is, I know one thing. It’s time for each and every American to take a good long look at our local representatives and maybe blast them all out of Washington. I mean these guys sat back and watched all this happen and when it became clear the bottom was about to drop out, they all began to run around blaming everyone but themselves. This was one of those things we sent them to Washington for. To protect the American public from harm, by any means. I just can’t believe not one of these people didn’t see what was happening and speak up. NOT ONE! If just ONE would have spoke out about one of these companies selling “bad paper” I just got to believe that would have stopped this all before it got out of hand. I guess we are all to blame in some way, we elected these idiots. And that’s my point, we put them in and we can vote them out. I’d love to get my hand on the Giant toilet Handle and pull. Then watch them all circle the bowl. WE all have to take responsibility for our own screw ups in life and we are all mad at the CEO’s of the failed companies and want them to pay for what they did. I just think we should be just as upset and  demand the same from our senators and congressmen. So in the word’s of Bluto Blutarsky in Animal house: “who’s with me?…… Come on let’s GOOOOOOooooooooooooo!”

A Little self reflection American style

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

The gas price gouging, hurricane recoveries, The Failures of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, A.I.G. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, wow what a great year we’ve been having eh?The American people are being picked apart like a carcass rotting in the desert.  I don’t think a lot of us really saw all the signs coming but now that we are in the clutches of a serious economic down turn what the hell do we do as regular people to survive before everything is gone. We’ll it seems that we deal with this issue in typical American fashion these days. We bitch and complain and blame everyone but ourselves, we fight with our spouses about money and bills, we start to walk around like a grumpy old men and mumble under our breaths about how we’re going do this and that to the person or persons who’ve done this to us, we scare our kids as we stomp around the house bitching about how fricking spoiled they have been and now it’s time to learn a lesson in life.  Or in some cases we don’t say anything, we just have our kids bitch to us about why can’t they have this or that and we end up buying them more crap just so we don’t have to deal with the complaints anymore and run our credit card debt’s higher and higher. Now I want you to notice here before you start saying “who is this A-hole think he is writing about us like this” that I am probably a first team all-star when it comes to being irresponsible with my money and bills, and I’ve got a lot of hard work to do when it comes to my personal financial screw ups. But I think we all just got a huge dose reality this week and we have had to see what it looks like to act in an irresponsible self serving way on a grand scale.     You see these companies listed above are really nothing more than a reflection of the way our whole society has been acting when it comes to money and personal responsibility. They went about the business of serving themselves up huge chunks of potential profits by  taking major risks with what they assumed was someone else’s money, and that someone else was US! Not only have we been messing our own life’s up but now we as tax payers are being told we need to “bail out” these greedy self serving bastards with our tax dollars cause we can’t afford to have the negative effects on our economy that would come if we just lets these greed mongers go belly up.       I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of watching my tax dollars go towards things like bail outs or anything to do with corporate businesses that can’t compete. So let’s all remember what we’ve been doing and what we’ve been going through as regular people here in this great country as we come up on our presidential elections. Because I don’t think either one of these candidate’s have given a straight answer about how we stop this downward spiral as a country and economy, and we all seriously need some solid leadership and we all need to do a little growing up. And remember how it’s clear we only have ourselves to blame when it comes to what’s happening  to our economy right now. Well that, the dog, and our favorite sports teams for not winning more often!

Sports N Politics’

Let me just take a spin down the old boulevard of news lately and see what it looks like.     Oh wow I see here that it’s not the best weeks to be a Clemson fan, no one saw that one coming, at least not in tiger-town! And Gamecock fans remember a “Smelly” second half does not make a season. Oh and yes I will admit it I don’t think my Wolverines could beat either team right now!     NFL season kicks off this Thursday night and I’m so ready for the new season so I can stop hearing about the super bowl champion Giants. I’m taking the Chargers and the Patriots in the AFC while in the NFC I’m going with Dallas and the Panthers, I think the Panthers are going to be a tough team that will have a struggle but that will make them very tough come playoff time Let’s take a look at the presidential campaign, what this? The Republican Party Receiving major amounts of coverage after announcing that Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin would be Sen. McCain’s running mate? Oh but the coverage isn’t because of the Governor’s career and her accomplishments in the very tough environment inside Alaskan politics’. It’s not because she is more like the people she represents, a working mother with kid’s and family issues yet able to become a productive working woman, the kind of modern woman any DEMOCRAT would tell you we should respect and honor and support in this modern global village we all, err some choose to live in. It appears to me that Governor Palin would no doubt be a celebrated pick as a symbol of the open minded, progressive thinking, women’s rights fighting, global warming believing, national health care supporting, tax raising, save everyone, and anti-capitalism  party. She would be defended, protected, celebrated and hailed as a symbol of all that a modern woman can be! But ooop’s! she’s a republican. Hey Liberal! Don’t make me say the H-word! And by the way you’re right when you say that Gov. Palin is no Hillary Clinton. That, I’m in total agreement with you on. And I’m also very happy about that too. Beside’s she’s a “Hockey mom” which means she could kick the crap out of any elitist “Soccer mom”. Again please tell me America, and be honest, can you look at this woman, her family, her record, and her career and not be at least impressed that for the first time in our history, we actually have a honest to god, regular mom, person, mother, who is a fighter, who gets things done and will fight to change the grid lock of 2 party politics’ in “Old Washington”?  Come on Liberal, deep down inside you kind of wish she was in your camp, joining you on the streets of St. Paul attacking old people walking down the street, destroying store fronts, public property, protesting god knows what and fighting with the police. I mean I know you don’t have a job liberal, so why would you want your candidate to become president and get you a job? I mean you wouldn’t have all that free time to travel, protest and destroy public property! And by the way who pays for the medical treatment you get after the injuries you receive when a cop has to crack you over the head with a night stick because you just kicked him, spit on him and beat up some old people?
